2nd period drama 1 please meet in the classroom today.

This week is National Honor Society week. NHS members will be wearing a NHS pin today.

Membership in the National Honor Society is based upon excellence in three areas: SCHOLARSHIP, LEADERSHIP AND SERVICE, and CHARACTER. To be eligible for membership into the National Honor Society a student must be either a Junior or Senior and have an accumulative grade point average of at least a 3.5 at the end of the 1st semester of the Junior or Senior year. It is highly recommended to become involved in your school and community as early as 9th grade and that you start keeping a record of what you have done. If you have any questions regarding the National Honor Society or membership, please contact the NHS Advisors, Mrs. DenOuden or Ms. Slostad.

Juniors and Seniors: We are planning a trip to New Zealand and Australia for the summer of 2011. Our sign-up will be this month only as everyone needs to start saving money for this. If you are interested, please stop by Mrs. Neiles' room 305 to pick up some information.

Sophomores interested in the Hugh O’Brian (HOBY) Youth Leadership summer program to be held June 10th - 13th should stop in the Guidance Office for information and an application. Deadline to apply is TODAY.

2009.LEGISLATIVE PAGE PROGRAM -- high school seniors interested in serving as a page, must be sponsored by a SD Legislator or Legislator-elect. After obtaining sponsorship, the student secures an application form to complete and return to the Legislative Research Council in Pierre. For more information stop in the Guidance Office. All applications are due by November 20, 2009.

Seniors who are interested in science and intend to pursue advanced degrees in math, science, engineering or technology there is an excellent opportunity to receive a scholarship to spend one month in the summer studying such fields as physics engineering and geology. The classroom includes locations that span the globe. See Mrs. DenOuden in the Guidance Office for more information and how to apply. Deadline is December 18th.

This months character trait is encouraging. Stop in the office to pick up a form. Deadline is Friday November 27.

P. E. O. STAR SCHOLARSHIP -- $2,500 scholarships to high school senior women attending an accredited university. The applicant must show excellence in leadership, extracurricular activities, community service, academics and potential for future success. Minimum GPA of 3.0. Applications are available in the Guidance Office. Deadline is NOVEMBER 13.
