Congratulations to Kaitlyn Severyn and Chase Lettau for being chosen as PACA's
Athlete of the Week for the weeks of 12/18-12/24 and 12/25-12/31. Here are their
nominations:
For 12/18-12/24: Nomination from Coach Lisa Bahe --Kaitlyn Severyn (Basketball):
Kaitlyn had 11 points and 15 rebounds in the Lady Govs win against Huron giving
them their first win of the season, ending a 34 game losing streak.
For 12/25-12/31: Nomination from Coach Ryan Noyes --Chase Lettau (Wrestling): At
The Clash (National Wrestling Duals) in Rochester Minnesota, Chase went a
perfect 6-0. For his efforts, Chase was given a patch that said 6-0 club. They
took a picture of Chase and he will be featured with the rest of 6-0 wrestlers
from across the Nation in next year's program. In addition to going undefeated,
Chase gave up only 2 points the entire weekend! One penalty point and one
escape. The Clash is by far the toughest dual tournament in the Nation. In the
wrestling room, Chase does a fantastic job of leading by example and working
with the younger kids.
Students, as we enter semester test week next week you need to pay attention to
the following information to determine whether or not you have qualified for a
test voucher. A semester test voucher will allow you to eliminate your lowest
test score if you deem necessary.
· 9th and 12th grade students that scored proficient or advanced in all three
content areas of the Dakota Step last year will be awarded a semester test
voucher. Vouchers awarded for the Dakota Step results may be used in either
semester—fall or carried over to spring. 9th and 12th grade students will be
notified via school email from Joan Denouden as to whether or not they will
receive a voucher. Be sure to check your mail.
· Attendance vouchers: Students who have not exceeded two excused absences in
any of their classes during each semester (not counting school-sponsored
activity absences) and who have no tardy sweeps will be eligible for one
semester test voucher that they may use to exempt the semester test score of one
of their semester tests. Students must take all tests. If their test score is
more than a 20% deviation from the average of their quarter grades, they will
not be allowed to exempt that test. Example: a student has an 85% in English
when his first and second quarter grades are averaged. If he scores less than a
65% on his semester test in English, he would not be allowed to exempt that test
score. This rule would ensure that students will still work hard on all tests
and will still benefit from taking the test. Attendance vouchers are not
cumulative beyond the semester in which they are earned. The list of names for
attendance vouchers will be posted in the guidance office and in the front
office.
· The 20% rule will also apply to vouchers awarded for Dakota Step scores.
· The names of those students eligible for an attendance voucher will be posted
in the guidance office and in the front office. Dakota Step eligible students
will be notified via email.
· Students that will be absent during a scheduled semester test for school
activities or otherwise must make arrangements with their teachers to test at an
alternative time.
Check the posters on the school bulletin boards around the building to ensure
that you are aware of the test schedule for next week. The schedule will also be
posted on the district web site. Test your best!!
