ANNOUNCEMENTS Thursday, January 26, 2012
Auditions for the talent show will take place on Thursday February 2nd and
Friday February 3rd in the choir room. Audition times will be from 3:30-6:30. A
sign-up sheet for audition times will be up this week. The dress rehearsal for
the show will be on Monday February 13th, and the show itself will be on Tuesday
February 14th. If chosen for the show, you MUST attend the dress rehearsal. If
you are involved in the travelling one-act play next Thursday and Friday and you
wish to try out for the show, you must arrange a time with Mr. Bauck and Ms.
Amundson ahead of time. If you have any questions, see Mr. Bauck or Ms. Amundson.
Each spring a mock legislative session & weekend retreat is held at the State
Capital in Pierre. Hosted by the S. D. Teen Age Republican’s (TAR’s), this event
is designed to be educational, rather than partisan, in nature/ Participants
will have fun, meet teens from across the start, and draft and debate
legislation on the floor of the state House of Representatives and Senate. If
you are interested in politics, government, or making a difference, The Mock
Legislative Session is for you! This event on March 23-24, 2012 is open to all
students in middle or high school regardless of political affiliation. Stop in
the office for an application, some scholarships available.

The Library will be open 2nd & 6th periods. All library workers are reminded to
go to the Library during their scheduled work time.
High School Juniors interested in attending the 33rd Annual Youth Business
Adventure (YBA) program in June should contact Mr. Bumann in Room 108 or stop by
the guidance office to pick up an application form. The deadline for
applications is February 10, 2012. During YBA, you may obtain 2 college credits
for under $100 for participation in the program. There is also an opportunity to
win a matched $500 college or technical institute scholarship.
Attention students! Monday is the 10 day of this semester which means it is the
LAST DAY to add a class to your schedule. If you need to change your schedule
please see your counselor right away. :)
TGIC character trait for January’s is friendly. If you know of someone who is
very welcoming of others and always has a smile on his or her face stop in the
office and nominate them today. Please have all nominations in by January 30th.
Seniors: Requests and information for Senior Salutations in the yearbook are due
February 1st. Please remind your parents to get this taken care of if they are
interested in purchasing a salutation.
The US Forest Service/Ft. Pierre National Grassland representative will be in
the lobby on today, January 26th from 11:00 to 12:30. Stop by the table to learn
about some very good job opportunities and what they do and who they are.
Pierre Young Professionals will be holding a Dress Shoppe on Saturday, January
28th from 10am – 3pm in the vacant store of the JC Penney wing at the Pierre
Mall. The Dress Shoppe provides gently used formal dresses for girls for King of
Hearts or Prom. Dresses can be obtained for a suggested donation of $10 OR you
may exchange one of your old dresses for a new one (limit 2 exchanges per
person). Proceeds from the Dress Shoppe will be donated to flood relief efforts
Your Basketball Cheerleaders are hosting a Spirit Fan of the Week competition.
This week’s theme is Neon Nights, so wear your neon and come support your Lady
Govs this Friday and Saturday. A prize will be announced at the end of 3rd
quarter
Attention all athletes interested in pole vaulting this season in track and
field: There will be a short, informational meeting on Thursday, January 26th at
3:15 in Coach Larson's room (room 323). Practice can officially begin on Monday,
January 30th so it is important that you attend this meeting.

Congratulations to Caleb Stoltenburg for being chosen as PACA's Athlete of the
Week! Here is his nomination from Coach Ryan Noyes: Caleb Stoltenburg
(Wrestling): Caleb went 3-0 this weekend at the East/West duals. In doing so, he
pinned the #1 rated wrestler in the state. Caleb had 2 pins on the day and beat
his Sturgis opponent 15-0.

by 3:30 p.m. in the Guidance Office.
