FBLA Members: Our next meeting is TONIGHT at 6:30 p.m. in Room 108.
Again Congratulations to Mrs. Danger for being voted the National Honor Society
Teacher of the Year for 2010. She will be recognized at the National Honor
Society Initiation Program on Thursday, Feb. 11th.
The State Capitol will be open until 9:00 p.m. on Sunday, 2/15 for those
students and families wishing to take pictures in the capitol prior to King of
Hearts. Please enter via the north entrance of the building. Please call
773-3688 with any questions.
FBLA's Annual Valentine's Sale begins TODAY in the lobby during 5th hour. If you
would like to purchase Ozark Delight Lollipops for your friends for Valentine's
Day, be sure to bring a few dollars on Tuesday or Wednesday. Valentine postcards
will be sold for $1 each. Each postcard will be delivered to the recipient's
1st-hour class on Friday, Feb. 12. The recipient may then bring their postcard
to the FBLA lollipop table during 5th hour on Friday and pick a lollipop of
their choice compliments of you. The Valentine's Sale table will be open Tuesday
and Wednesday during 5th hour. Thanks.
SENIORS REMIND YOUR PARENTS THAT PICTURES and MONEY DONATION IS NEEDED FOR THE
PARENT SENIOR PARTY, TURN THEM IN TO MRS. TIBBS IN THE GUIDANCE OFFICE.
Seniors turn in your senior profile to the Guidance Office so that the Capital
Journal can get started on some of your stories.
Riggs High Juniors: Those interested in attending the 31st Annual Youth Business
Adventure (YBA) program in June should contact Mrs. Ulmen in Room 108 to pick up
an application. The deadline for applications is February 12, 2010. During YBA,
you may obtain 2 college credits for under $100 for participation in the
program. There is also an opportunity to win a matched $500 college or technical
institute scholarship.
Need help with financial aid? Here is a FREE event. Sunday, February 21, 2010 is
College Goal Sunday- to be held at Capital University Center. There is a total
of $6,000 in scholarship dollars that will be awarded to this year’s attendees!
The event is FREE of charge – no catches, no gimmicks, no obligations! Students
and parents can come ANYTIME between 2-4 p.m. to get help in submitting their
FAFSA and to get important information about student financial aid. The PIN
number can now be issued on-site – no need to pre-apply for a PIN before the
event. Students are encouraged to Pre-register at www.collegegoalsd.org

Attention Native American students: The Native American Journalism Conference
will take place this year at Crazy Horse Memorial April 19-23. If you are
interested in attending this conference, please pick up an application in the
office and get it to Mrs. Davis not later than FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 19th. Email Mrs.
Davis for more information.
The Capital University Center Driver’s Education registration forms are
available in the front office in the rack
The Robert Byrd Honors Scholarship applications are now available in the
Guidance Office. To qualify you must have a GPA of at least 3.5 with an ACT
score of 30 or above. Deadline to apply is March 19th.
The Richard-Hagen-Minerva Harvey Memorial Scholarship information is now
available in the Guidance Office. This program is for enrolled members of Tribes
whose reservation is located in whole or part in the state of SD. Up to 7
scholarships may be awarded each year. Deadline to apply is March 12th.
The King of Hearts will be February 14, at the New Gym, of Georgia Morse Middle
School. The formal event is only 9th -12th grade students, tickets and formal
attire are required (no hats or bandanas allowed). Doors open: 8pm with Music:
9p.m. - 1a.m. Tickets can be purchased at the following locations: Capital City
Florist, Hollywood Shop, Melvin's Flower Shop, Pierre Flower Shop, Sully
Buttes School,
Spring registration has started at www.pierresoccer.com, those that are
interested in playing summer club need to also register for Spring.
