3-26-2007- No Practice for the 12's or 14's and the 16's and 18's will practice at 6:30 until 8. Thanks again to all the parents and players for a great weekend!

What a great weekend for the Oahe JO volleyball program. It was a great ending for our 12's team who finished 1st in the Silver tournament! What a huge improvement of skill from January 8th to March 24th. Thanks to the parents for their dedication to get the girls to practices and work with them to make them better! Keep working on the skills and it will be fun to see them again next year! A few of you asked about a camp here this summer, I am working on getting something together, but not sure how it is going to work for sure, but I will definitely contact you with details if I get it together.
14's had a great weekend as well. 14's 1 finished 8th out of 24 teams which is a great accomplishment. They didn't get a medal, but they qualified for the gold tournament which is a big deal. 14's 2 placed 2nd in the Bronze division. So they had another good weekend!
Opening weekend for the 16's and 18's was also good! 16's placed 3rd out of 20 teams in the Gold Division. 18's got 1st in the Silver. So a great opening weekend for 16's and 18's and looking forward to their success throughout the rest of the season.

Uniforms: We will have them by Thursday night's practice. Make sure they have black spandex, good tennis shoes only worn in the gym, knee pads, pony tails, and NO JEWELRY!

Hopefully the weather holds out for all of us traveling. My cell phone number is 222-1210 or Tessa's is 222-2522 if you need to get in touch with any of us. We are staying in the same hotel as the team, so we will be able to check in with you once we get there. I hope you are all ready for a fun weekend in St. Cloud! For those of you new to the program, get ready for lots of volleyball!!

2-21-2007-  HERE is the tournament schedules for March 3rd. For the 14's group, Sauk Rapids is right next to St. Cloud, so no need to worry about a different location. If you have any questions, please let me know.  12's team, we ref the 3rd game which shows starts at 9:50, so we will need to be at our location at 9 o'clock, as far as the 14's, you will need to be in your location ready to go 1/2 hour before your match is scheduled. Coaches will let you know more next week.

You may want to print out the schedule, so you can follow along with the rules and play schedule.
2-25-2007  (Kacy) Hello everyone,
Thanks to all of you who came to practice today and for those of you who missed out, we will be having the rules/officials clinic at another time, probably March 11th around 4 o'clock. I will keep you updated after I check into more details. I would like for all of the parents to look on the following website: www.ncrusav.org and on the home page there is a scoring PowerPoint presentation that would be good to go through with your daughter. We went through it today, but there is a lot of information for these girls to know and it might help if they went through it another time. Also, if there was a parent or 2 that would be familiar with scoring that could sit at the table with the girls for this first tournament to help them through it. The coaches have to be the up officials, so that leaves the rest of the girls on their own trying to score and line judge by themselves. Also, I mentioned to the girls that it would be a good idea to buy a whistle for them to have at the tournaments so we aren't passing germs. You can get them at Wal-Mart for pretty cheap.

Practice this week: NO PRACTICE on Monday night, and Thursday night's practice will remain the same or right after the girls basketball game. For those of you not attending the basketball game, we will have practice from 8:45-9:45 since there isn't any school on Friday.

This weekend: 12's need to be at their site dressed and ready by 9:00 am. It will be helpful for them to watch the match ahead of ours to see how the girls play at their level.
14's need to be at their site by 7:45 and on the court at 8:00 ready to warm up. This is going to be a very long day for all of us, so please be sure your daughters get a good night's sleep and a good breakfast!! If they plan on swimming, that needs to be done before 7 o'clock and I would say no longer than 45 minutes. You will be surprised how quickly they wear out on Saturday. They can have water bottles and should have water bottles because water fountains won't be easily accessible and they won't be able to run and get a drink during time outs or between games.

(Kacy) The Fargo lady called back last night at 10 o'clock and said, "We have room for all of your teams in our tournament." So, we are going to stick with that Fargo tournament since we have our money sent in and it is on the calendar and it will be way easier for the coaches, since we were looking at being in one place Saturday and then having to drive a couple hours to be a the next tournament, so March 24th 12's and 14's will be in Fargo and March 25th 16's and 18's will be in Fargo. I hope this doesn' t cause any problems. Also, for the 12's, on March 18th, we will be in Marshall for the 12's tournament instead of Pipestone on the 17th.

Reserve Sunday, February 25th from 1:30-3/3:30 for the rules/officials clinic. We are having it here at the Georgia Morse Middle School. We have not been to a clinic since this program has started and I feel it is very important. It is MANDATORY!!! All the other clinics will require you to travel, so please make it to this one unless you want to make a long trip for an hour and a half presentation. This is going to teach you any new rules and how to officiate correctly, so when we go to tournaments, we do a good job!

1-30-2007 (Kacy) Hello,
Sorry to bug you all again, but we are still looking for volunteers to help with reffing on Saturday. Thanks to those of you who have responded. We really could use 3 more people for the morning shift and 3 more for the afternoon shift. Morning shift is from 7:30-12 and afternoon is 12-approx. 4. Find a partner to help you out!   Kacy

1-23-2007: (Kacy) I am needing volunteers to referee on February 3rd for the Easter Seals benefit volleyball tournament. They are planning to have 4 courts set up at Riggs High School gym and will need 2 refs per court. One person to blow the whistle and one to keep score. Shouldn't be too strenuous but it will require some time. The tournament starts at 7:30 am and the first shift would be from 7:30- 12 and the last would be for the tournament from 12- 4ish. If we can get enough volunteers, we could break the shifts down even more. Please let me know if you can volunteer some time! I would like to know ASAP!
